Lestari Workshop with NAILA

And just like that, it was time for our final Lestari Workshop of 2020.

The National Australia Indonesia Language Awards (NAILA) is a speech competition that fosters the development of Indonesian Language learning.

Bahasa Indonesia is such an integral part of Indonesia's identity. Many of Lestari's members are involved in the Indonesian Language community and we all promote our culture within schools and external events to further enhance passions and interest to learn about Indonesia.

For this event, Sanggar Lestari workshop educators Mama Ning, Seraina and Yana taught Tari Piring Jawa. We were so excited as our participants included the Australia-wide winners from the NAILA speech competition, who were equally passionate about Indonesian language and culture!

After learning and performing Tari Piring Jawa all together, we closed our dance workshop with a line dance workshop to practice some funky hip movements! We had such a wonderful time connecting with like-minded people from interstate and within our community. The participants were all so passionate and keen to learn - I wonder what dance we should teach next time?

Once again, thank you for having us NAILA! Good luck to all the participants for 2020.
