Sanggar Lestari loves hosting workshops at events - especially schools!

Maybe it's because it's where we feel most comfortable.

Did you know that most of the performers at Sanggar Lestari work as teachers, teaching assistants and educators? Apart from this, our team that work in other creative fields are full of zest and passion for teaching Indonesian Culture.

Workshops are our jam - we love Indonesia and we love what we do. So much so, that we host high-energy workshops for small groups of kids, large groups of adults and everything in between.

We were invited to Wesley College St Kilda Campus to host an Angklung and Line-Dance Workshop at their Indonesian Night.

After some delicious Indonesian food and Indonesian Trivia, Sanggar Lestari taught Wesley Students and Teachers about the West Javanese Angklung Instrument. This workshop was led by our dearest Angklung extraordinaire BibiUa (Ibu Siti) and Mama Ning. Each participant played a different note to form the Melody of traditional Indonesian and Australian Songs. Our Dance workshop, led by Yana, included learning Tari Poco-Poco and Gemufamire. We were so happy to see everyone, including teachers, get involved and have a go to 'naik motor' in our line dances.
